Tonight DragonsCavern received another spoof message. This time it came from Paypal, owned now by eBay;

Dear Paypal User,
In accordance with our major database relocation, we are currently having major adjustments and updates of user accounts to verify that the informations you have provided with us during the sign-up process are true and correct. However, we have noticed some discrepancies regarding your account at Paypal. Possible causes are inaccurate contact information and invalid logout process. We require you to complete an account verification procedure as part of our security measure.  You must click the link below to complete the process. [link removed from message]. Unable to do so may result to abnormal account behavior during transactions. Thank you for using PayPal!

Why do we think its a spoof?

Well once again the link tried to take us to a restricted area of a website that had nothing to do with paypal.

Also, we don't have an account using the email address that the message came to.

Once again we advise all visitors to treat any email like this with suspicion. NEVER log into a website using a link in an email. Visit the site, log in as normal and then see if there is a message waiting asking you to update your details.

Promotional Piece

If you visit the 24studio website and view their new spring catalogue, you'll find they are selling some Myth and Magic studies; the Celtic Crystal (3386) and Imperiosus (OY2005). Nothing special there, until you see that with each study you receive a promotional piece titled 'The Fiery Dragon'. This one has escaped our identification. Does anyone have any idea as to its reference number and size? Post a comment with your information.

Coming Soon

DragonsCavern has been talking to the Tudor Mint, and in February we are pleased to announce that we will adding a new feature to the site that will be appreciated by many collectors who have been asking us to include past copies of the Methtintdour Times - the collectors club magazine - on the site.
We had to think carefully about this, because we didn't want to simply put the magazine pages on the website for people to download and infringe on copyright. After discussions with The Tudor Mint now have a solution that both us and they are happy with that makes use of a Flash application called 'FlipViewer'.

We will be adding the first three club magazines to the site in early February, and will then add more in the coming weeks and months.

Newsletter time

The February newsletter from DragonsCavern is taking shape, and will be emailed out to subscribers on the 1st of the month. If you are not already subscribed to it, then you can visit the contact section of the website and follow the link, or email directly from here to be added to the list. Just give us your first and last name, and your city (optional) and we'll add you to the list straight away.

Being a subscriber not only means you receive the newsletter with news and developments for the myth and magic range as well as the DragonsCavern website, but also exclusive access to a section of the website that contains interviews with people related to the Myth and Magic range, Dragon, Wizard and Fairy related games, and the first part of The Methtintdour Chronicles (Allan Frosts story of the land of Methtintdour).

A Prototype?

Is this a prototype study? The baseplate says 3963 The Spell Master, (c) 2004. However, 3963 has just been released in the new January range as Soul Mates.
Could it be the Single Cast study (ref 3909) 'The Spell Master' ? We are trying to find out. Can anyone else help?

TM adds the large studies

The official Tudor Mint website now has images of the new large studies on the site, although strangely they are not listed in the New products section as this post is being written. Click on the catalogue tab, choose large from the drop down options and then choose either 'next page' or 'end of section' for images of the new studies like the gothic dragon-esque 'Enchanted Window' on the left. As soon as we find the new medium studies added as well we'll post about those too.

Update: (17.01) The medium studies are now listed, and both large and medium studies are now listed in the New Products section.

Who will it be...

So the new year begins and the new club year kicks into action. New presentation piece, new members only pieces, and new post being delivered too. Who will be the first person to receive their goodies this year? Let us know when you get your renewal (or welcome) letter, drout (if renewing) and your presentation piece too by clicking on the comment button. We'll have a top 10 list of the dates that items were received!

Ebay news and auctions

On eBay at the moment there are a few hard to find Myth and Magic studies. Both the Myth and Magic Collectors Club  5 year anniversary piece - Vannus - and the 10 year piece - Xannus - are up for auction. Both auctions end Sunday evening.

In addition, eBay are altering their prices, according to this news release from their site:

Scheduling Fees
The fee for scheduling a listing using the Sell Your Item Form or Turbo Lister will be reduced from £0.12 to £0.06 per listing.

Subtitle
The fee for using a Subtitle for your Item Title will be reduced from £0.50 to £0.35.

Highlight
The fee for using the Highlight option will be increased from £1.50 to £2.50.

Search around

On the search page of DragonsCavern you can search the site for a study by it's reference number as well as by it's name. Now we have added an external search option to go out onto the web and find anything  myth and magic (or anything else you choose to look for) related. As it is powered by Google the results are accurate and relevant.

Good news!

We are pleased to say that our site has been moved over to a LINUX server now, and that the site is up and running again.

We will be rebuilding the forms (voting and contact) tomorrow evening.

Subscribers, please note that your old username and password should work once again (you will find these on your newsletters).
