April Newsletter

Subscribers to the DragonsCavern newsletter service should note that the April newsletter will be sent out a little later than usual.
Also, the monthly update to the vote and previous newsletter pages will be slighty late as well.
This is as the webmanager will be taking a long delayed short holiday at the end of the month.

Blog design is back

We've got the design back for the blog!
Thanks to 1and1 for their help in altering our CNAME settings to allow us to get our design back working!
Our ISP issues will be resolved soon as we are moving from ntl to another more reliable provider.

2 more magazines

More new copies of the Methtintdour Times - issues 21 and 22 - have been added to the subscribers section for you to view and enjoy using our Flash 'Flipviewer' feature.

Action underway

We're nearly there with the problems that have affected the site during March.

1. The 'double post titles appearing' problem has been resolved, thanks to support from Feed Digest, who provide the technology to turn our blog into a list of entries.

2. The 'connection to the web to upload pages' problem is more stable and allows us to get pages uploaded at the moment. ntl (the ISP providing the link between our local files and our server) are looking into the issue as we speak.
We have been able to upload new versions of pages - we hope you like the new simplified startpage :-)

3. The 'blog lost its format' problem has been made aware to our website hosts (1and1) who, although giving us initial advice for a US based site, are now working on a fix to this for UK customers.

Once again, we would like to apologise for these issues. Thank you for bearing with us.

Partial access

We have a partial ability to update the website now, with occasions when our connection to the web is stable enough to transfer files. We have started to make the updates we mention in an earlier post, but may have times when some of the pages become unavailable whilst they are in the slow process of being updated.

Please bear with us - we're getting there (like the trains!!)

Updated issues

We have had (and are still suffering from) several technical 'problems' this month, that are causing us headaches;

1. Our ability to load and alter pages on our server is unreliable still at the moment, due to our local ISP. We have several changes to the site that we have been working on, but are unable to add to the website until these issues are resolved.

2. The ISP issue is also affecting sending and receiving email. Please bear with us if we have not replied to your message yet.

3. Our blog is on occasions duplicating the titles of posts that you can view on our main page, sitemap page and news page of the website. We are aware of this and are busy working on a fix to solve this. As soon as we are able to, we'll post an update here.

4. Issues with settings between our website hosts and the blog have also resulted in this temporary "new look" (!!) for the blog that keeps cropping up for users. We should be back to normal shortly (fingers crossed).

Once again, apologies for the problems being experienced this month.

Asking a favour

We are still suffering from intermittent outages with our connection to the internet.

If any of our visitors use 'ntl' in the UK as their service provider (ISP), please contact us if you are having difficulties maintaining a stable connection to the web, and repeatedly getting "Server too slow / not responding" messages in Firefox, or "Page not found" messages in Internet Explorer.

We know that it is not an issue with machines at our end, but are having trouble convincing ntl that it is a fault with their network!
