So, another May weekend passes and another Extravaganza comes and goes.
Again, it was the West Midlands Safari Park, and again it was held in the big 'tent'
The difference this year was the weather - speaking to some of the Tudor mint staff, the overnight deluge caused something of a panic when the 'tent' was flooded in the small hours. Fortunately for us attendees, the rain had passed and the sun eventually emerged to make it a pleasant day.
The tombola seemed to be light on prizes, but this could be due to early visitors seemingly buying up the entire ticket box!! Maybe in future TM might think about setting a limit on how many tickets can be bought at any one time...
The new independant study - Titananos - is amazing (and there is now an image of it on the website), and 100 of them went on sale. There were also examples of the new studies coming out later this year. Crystals embedded within wings seems to be a new favourite for upcoming larger studies. The 2007 year piece - Amethustos - also looks good, although the example shown has since been remodelled.
Some of the silent auction studies were popular, and The Burglar Steals Smaug's Great Cup attracted a very high bid.
Members had a good chance to get a prize in the draw this year with at least 16 (although it seemed like a lot more studies) being put up for grabs. And talking of members, the day seemed to be quieter, but looking around by 2pm it seemed to be as full as last year.
Outside on the lawn there were traders again, seemingly ticking over with sales during the day.
For us here at DragonsCavern we were handing out our website business cards to anyone who would take one, and it was nice to hear lots of people saying that they use the site often to check on studies. We're glad you like us :-)
As Graham said at the end of the day, we'll see you again next year - but the question we are wondering (as there was not the usual 'Do you want to come back here again?') is.....
where?
